Forgot Your Password?

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7

Inundated is too small a word for it. I am smothered with passwords. Are you?

I keep a list with all my login and password information. There are so many. Social media accounts for both work and personal use. Bank sites, email sites, tax sites. So many sites sites sites! I have found myself referring to that list of passwords as many as 6 times in an hour!

I understand that there are programs out there, password vaults, that do a good job of organizing passwords. I also know that most browsers will remember a good share of passwords so you don’t have to keep checking them, but every once in a while it still happens to the best of us:

Oh, what a pain this is. You’ve tried 2 or 3 different combinations of the word you’re just sure you’ve assigned to this account, but nothing’s working. Is it upper case? Did I put an exclamation point at the end of it? Sometimes the risk of being locked out of the account due to too many attempts looms large, and you have to click that button.

Then you hope your email or your phone number are up to date so they can send you a reset link. And then you have to remember to write the new password down correctly. Oh, you know the drill. Sometimes it’s one big hassle just to get into a website to do something that may or may not have been that important to you in the first place.

Passwords are a thing. We’re stuck with them. But not when it comes to faith issues. Not when it comes to entering the Kingdom of God. There is no special code, no 8-digit word using upper and lower cases, symbols, and numbers required. No password required at all.

All you need to do is approach the Kingdom. Desire to move closer to it, knock on the door, and enter in. What’s inside the door to that kingdom is more precious than any website, more powerful than any computer, and more valuable than any chunk of data you may endeavor to protect. It is the actual secret to life, given away for free, no passwords required.

It is the cite of all cites. How strange is it, then, that so many of us forget to visit it? Literally EVERYTHING is better when you are logged in to the Kingdom of God. You don’t just visit it–you can LIVE in it. By simply asking, you’ will receive it. By seeking, you will find it. By knocking you will enter it. And the quintessential love that comes from it will show you things that will change your life.

The next time your web surfing leads you to another frustrating locked door with no easy way to get inside, why not put down the mouse, take a deep breath, and ask God to help you find your way into the Kingdom. Just by asking, you’ll be there.

FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?

Don’t be silly. You never needed one.

Have a great week,

Mitch
