He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. –Colossians 1:17
In Jesus, all things hold together.
Worn down Velcro? No problem.
Two pieces of 20-year-old masking tape? Not an issue.
Not even a challenge.
The wrong ends of two magnets? Yep.
Mentos and Diet Coke? Fire and Ice?
I’m telling you, Jesus can hold all things together.
What about Republicans and Democrats? Or Chiefs and Broncos fans?
A troubled marriage?
The U.S. and North Korea?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
What about me? My chaotic, fractured life?
The half of me that longs to stray and the half that longs to stay?
Yes.
Well…Prove it.
No, YOU prove it.
Prove it by resting in him. By opening up with faith to him.
Put yourself in the best position to receive Jesus within.
And then you will.
So, let me get this straight:
If I hold on in him, he’ll hold me together?
Sounds paradoxical–two ideas that are opposite each other.
Yep, it kind of does.
But haven’t you been listening?
Jesus can hold ANYTHING together.
Have a great week,
Mitch
nice, Mitch
fitting day for this
paradox. yes
i suppose i’m picking theological nits with you here, but i reckon i’d see the holding-together you describe as more the providence of the Holy Spirit
the narrative is hopeful in any event
thanks for your devotions
